The Importance of Computers & A Brief History Lesson

Computers have become an integral part of our daily lives. It’s almost impossible to imagine the world without computers. Can you?

They’ve become essential for everyday use and in almost all business dealings.

There are businesses that exist today because of computers. For these organizations, a world without computers is certainly something that they wouldn’t wish for.

Today, individuals of all ages practically use the technology.

From the time you’re born to when you become old, computers assist us in many things. They’ve reduced mishaps during birth and increased our average life expectancy.

Business, in general, has gained the most from the advancements of computers. In recent years, they’ve significantly improved efficiency and productivity in the workplace.

Massive amounts of information in business sectors, government agencies and health care are stored on reliable servers. Speeding up the access of critical information and reducing the loss of data through redundancy.

How We Use Computers

We use computers to somewhat multiply time. Through this technology, businesses have enabled their employees to do more.

Communications such as sending and receiving messages have become quicker. Things like email, text messaging and video calling have enhanced work and our personal lives.

In schools, computers are changing the way classrooms are thought and how exams are taken. They’re also helping teachers teach students based on their learning styles.

In higher educational institutions like Universities and Colleges, computers are helping professors do their work faster. Researchers are capable of sharing knowledge or findings quickly, which fast tracks overall innovation.

They’ve also become a vital component of the modern-day transportation system. Roads, railways and air travel transportation providers all depend on computer systems to operate and deliver customers to their destinations.

Our money or banking system and the way we complete transactions are all heavily dependent on computing tech.

What about the health industry?

Doctors regularly use specialized computers to help them diagnose and treat illnesses.

In every part of the world, we use and depend on them.

This widespread dependence has led some people to develop fears of it. To the point where some people refuse to use certain devices like smartphones or Tablets.

How Computers Are Changing The Way We Do Business

One of the reasons why investments were made in the advancement of technology is that increased productivity would be realized. Well, our predecessors were right. Productivity has indeed increased.

Now a single employee in an organization can produce triple or more of what our predecessors could accomplish back in somewhere like the 1960s.

From cost management to better collaboration for businesses to overall interactions and participation, computers have changed everything!

For the origin of computers, we’ve got to go back in time, more than 2500 years.

In fact, here’s an infographic that’ll give you a brief history lesson.
